Scheduling still available for June removals.
Scheduling still available for June removals.
The heat of summer has arrived. Currently we are seeing fairly decent temperatures and rain has kept most perennials happy with a little help watering during dry stretches. All of your plants will always like a little additional fertilizer to help not just the growth above ground, but to also encourage root development to strengthen root development which also helps with moisture uptake for the plant during the hot days of summer.
On the tree front, we are seeing increased failures with dead ash trees and a few trees that have already taken storm/wind damage from the spring storms that came thru.
Currently we have June removal dates still available and there is some room on our mowing list as well.

Oak wilt season has begun and here's what you need to know about how to protect your oak trees. With the warmer temperatures, beetles that can carry the fungus spores are awake and on the move. The beetles are drawn to the freshly pruned wounds associated with pruning. Not pruning your oaks during this time will help to reduce your exposure to the fungus but it does not eliminate your risk. Fungus spores can be transmitted thru the root systems and with airborne spore spread. Keep an eye out for your tree to either have leaves curling up and dying or if your tree seems to lose its canopy earlier than usual in the fall. The test for this is typically taking a sample and sending to the UofM for analysis.

Ash borer continues to be the most prevalent pest killing trees all over Minnesota. Infestation is easy to identify and typically ends in the tree being removed. I am happy to help you in identifying and assessing your ash trees to see if they have been affected.

With all of the trees that I take down, many people ask, "what is the best replacement?" Well, there is a lot of things to consider when selecting your new tree. Consider your space and look around your neighborhood. Variety is one way that can help reduce the spread of pests and diseases, but also, helps you to stand out a little bit. Many of the popular tree varieties that many builders and homeowners are planting, are showing to be poor choices a few years down the road. It may seem hard to believe but that tree that you plant that is just no more than a skinny twig, can outgrow its space much faster than you think it can happen. On a personal note-please reconsider the Autumn Blaze maple-it is a terribly weak tree, and I am seeing more and more failures when exposed to wind. I am always happy to consult with customers on new plantings and landscape designing

Restorative service is available after stump grinding has been completed by a professional tree company. Just a reminder that not all companies, including some arborists, will inform you that stump removal can leave behind mountains of wood chips in certain cases.

The area after the restoration follows the removal of a six-foot stump adjacent to a driveway, performed by a professional tree service. The experienced arborist from the tree company ensured that the stump was removed safely, preventing any potential issues, such as a tree on house situation.
